You’ve caught the fever and have decided to learn more about online marketing. Millions of people are catching on just like you, and are also interested in using Internet promotion to market their business. The good news is that when it comes to this new, marketing frontier, it is still relatively early historically and you are a part of the crowd that has a special vision for using the Internet in the future.
Millions of other people are not so sure. Like you they’ve also heard ‘this and that’ about the Internet, and online marketing seems a little too risky for their blood. Well it is and should be for good reason… Like everything else you know only little about, there is a huge learning curve to deal with before you will ‘master’ online marketing skills.
The road to making money online is treacherous. Recognizing this fact and taking conscious safeguards right now, will reduce your risk greatly.
Here are three fundamental starting points I want to impress on you that I picked up… the hard way:
- Start with a smart online marketing approach
- Stick with the plan in-hand, as you go forward
- Avoid accumulating way too much information
Information about online marketing is available from what seems like everyone and is offered generously almost everywhere you turn. When we give our email address to get information online, the result is an inbox filled with emails that are giving you, pitching you, and marketing to you in mass scale.
There are plenty of people already using online marketing resources and skills to literally circle the globe looking for prospects. These people want your money and your attention, and they will do or say anything necessary to get it. They all want to help you… “help other people.” Some really do; some don’t. It’s a lot like a standard response to a beauty pageant question.
To summarize, here is Strategy #1 related to email. I recommend you begin with or return to this strategy many times, as you master online marketing for yourself:
- Manage the volume of your email with diligence.
- Stay focused on your single purpose and plan…
- Don’t over subscribe, and unsubscribe routinely.
- File the information you save and use it again.
Applying Strategy #1 will help you anytime. When you do, you’ll have a fighting chance of saving a lot of time, money, and future mistakes. To start, you need only to get the facts and keep it simple. You can avoid information overwhelm by staying focused, using discipline, and discerning the validity of the plan you follow.
Be flexible and teachable but not ‘told’ what to do. Make decisions based on what you know, as you know it. Take it at the pace it comes to you, and relax.
Know for yourself, why you are using the plan of your choice. You’ve got the facts, you’re keeping it simple, and you are protected from overwhelm. Do this, and your activity will fuel the momentum that sets your motivation on fire, and into high gear. Now we’re talking possibility and success.
Oh, and unsubscribe often!
